Truck drivers operating in the Los Yungas region have reported that some of the fuel destined for local gas stations is being diverted, exacerbating shortages and long lines in the area. The drivers claim that tanker trucks are not arriving frequently enough and that, when they do, the volumes unloaded do not match what YPFB (Bolivian State Petroleum Company) has scheduled. According to industry leaders, the National Hydrocarbons Agency and the police have virtually no presence on the roads or at gas stations, facilitating resale and illegal stockpiling.
