FORTH ROAD BRIDGE OPENING - COLOUR
(10 Sep 1964) The Queen opened the new Forth Road Bridge, which is the longest suspension bridge in Europe. Its central span stretches three thousand, three hundred feet. Although fifteen hundred men took six years to actually complete it, a further forty years were taken in the waiting and planning.
