A Polish first-person RPG set in an open world with a science fiction atmosphere, based on the pen and paper role-playing system Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk 2077 was developed by CD Projekt RED, the studio known for its cult classic The Witcher series. Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person, open-world RPG enriched with FPS elements. It was developed by Polish studio CD Projekt RED, which gained international recognition for its best-selling Witcher series. The title is based on the license for Cyberpunk 2020 – a role-playing game created in 1990 by Mike Pondsmith. Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in the year 2077, in a fictional metropolis called Night City, located on the northern California coast. We're dealing with a dystopian retrofuturism straight out of the 1990s, where a devastated world is ruled by brutal megacorporations, and the streets are the realm of gangs and the titular cyberpunks – independent rebels living outside the system. Furthermore, thanks to technological advancements, people are commonly modifying their bodies with implants. We play as V, a novice mercenary (or mercenary) building her position in a harsh reality. One day, while completing a job, the heroine comes into possession of a chip containing the secret of immortality, which is coveted by the most powerful forces of the cyberpunk world. We create the protagonist from scratch, deciding, among other things, about their gender (interestingly, you can freely combine female and male traits), appearance, and background (there are three life paths available – nomad, punk, or corp – which determine, among other things, where we start the game and offer additional dialogue options). In the character creator, we also set the starting level of five basic attributes: physique, reflexes, technical abilities, intelligence, and composure. A key role in Cyberpunk 2077's plot is played by Johnny Silverhand – a successful rockerboy (in the world of CP2020, this term refers to a rocker known for his contacts with the criminal underworld), who died under mysterious circumstances in the 2020s, many years before the game's action. This character's consciousness was digitized and stored on a chip, which V comes into possession of. The fate of the uncompromising star is therefore linked to the protagonist, but this does not necessarily mean he is his ally – for example, he may try to take over V's body against his will. Johnny Silverhand is played by Keanu Reeves, the star known for The Matrix and John Wick series, among others. He is also voiced by: Gavin Drei (V - male), Cherami Leigh (V - female), Lovensky Jean-Baptiste (Placide), Samuel Barnett (SI Delamaina), Michael-Leon Wooley (Dexter "Dex" DeShawn), and Jason Hightower (Jackie Welles). The Polish version features Michał Żebrowski (Johnny Silverhand), Kamil Kula (male version of V), Lidia Sadowa (female version of V), Marta Żmuda Trzebiatowska (Judy Alvarez), Artur Dziurman (Placide), and Jacek Król (Jackie Welles). Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG with a first-person perspective. Players explore a vast, open world (players can walk, drive cars, or motorcycles) and complete various tasks, often with a non-linear structure. The game also features an interesting Braindance mechanic, which allows players to relive and examine other people's memories. This approach is often used in various investigations. During gameplay, combat is often required – the combat system is reminiscent of first-person shooters, though RPG elements are also present (as in the Destiny series – for example, headshots don't necessarily kill enemies instantly, and the amount of damage dealt is determined by the hero's stats). We use an arsenal of diverse, futuristic weapons (both firearms and melee weapons), as well as additional skills and tools (for example, we can hack security systems and chips found in enemies' bodies). We also have the option of silently eliminating enemies and negotiating with NPCs to convince them of our point of view or find a compromise. Cyberpunk 2077 runs on the RED Engine, which has received numerous improvements compared to the version that powered The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This technology allowed the developers to create a detailed world with a daily cycle and heavy traffic. Furthermore, the PC version supports ray tracing and DLSS 2.0.
