Lazare Chiasson - Reel de la cachette du Pêcheur (1981 LP from Acadian New Brunswick)

Another LP from Tracadie-based Acadian record label, S.L.M. Records Ltd, "Reel de la cachette du Pêcheur" is from Acadian fiddler Lazare Chiasson (b. 1939) of Northeast New Brunswick's Acadian Peninsula. According to Gary Copeland in his book Fiddling in New Brunswick, Lazare was born in Saint Simon, close to nearby Inkerman Ferry and Pokemouche. He lived for years in Le Goulet and was an auto mechanic. His fiddling is tied to the Down East style of New Brunswick fiddle, but he has many Acadian touches from NE New Brunswick in the older style. He writes great tunes, including a number on this album, like the title track. André à Toto Savoie was a fan of Lazare Chiasson and liked to play that tune, "Reel de la cachette du Pêcheur." Lazare Chiasson is still alive today though he hasn't played the fiddle in some years. Voici un autre LP de l'étiquette acadien S.L.M. André à Toto Savoie de Shippagan était un fan de Lazare Chiasson et aimait jouer cette reel. Lazare Chiasson est encore vivant mais il ne joue plus le violon.
