🎵 May It Be - Organ Arrangement by Manuel Böhm🎵 Today I'm again in the Basilica of St. Mary in Kevelaer. Although I have already uploaded a recording of "May it be" on my channel, I really wanted to show it again for you on this beautiful organ with slightly different sounds. I'm really happy to present you another recording of my arrangement of "May It Be" from "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring". "May It Be" is the song that ends the the first movie from the "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I hope you like it! The large organ in St. Mary's Basilica was largely built between 1905 and 1907 by the organ builder Ernst Seifert. It replaced the first large basilica organ, which had been built around 1874 by the organ builder Wilhelm Rütter; part of Rütter's organ was transferred to the Kevelaer parish church. Ernst Seifert built a large organ on the west gallery, initially with 104 stops. At the same time, he built a choir organ with 18 stops on a small gallery in the northern transept. A total of 133 sounding stops are installed in the organ system. In January 2022, the entire pipework and all technical elements were removed and restored and reinstalled in December 2023. The history of Kevelaer as a place of pilgrimage begins at the end of 1641, when Hendrick Busman von Geldern heard the voice of the Mother of God three times at a hail cross in the Kevelaer Heath, who is said to have instructed him to build a chapel. Since then, many people have come to Kevelaer every year, making it one of the largest and best-known Marian pilgrimage sites in Germany. I hope you like the piece and the sound of the organ(s) as much as I do. The incredible breadth and warmth of the sound were indescribably in the stunning church beautiful and the evening flew by. The many different timbres of these German Romantic organs also make you feel like you're in heaven... Especially the reeds (which have an incredibly soft and beautiful response) and the seraphones sound great Kevelaer is definitely worth a visit!
