🎵 Abide With Me - Organ performance by Manuel Böhm🎵 I'm back at Marienstatt Monastery in the Westerwald and am looking forward playing for you a piece that an audience requested some time ago. 'Abide With Me' is many people's favorite song and one of the most famous pieces from the hymn books."Abide with Me" is a Christian hymn by Scottish Anglican clergyman Henry Francis Lyte. When Lyte was dying of tuberculosis in 1847, he wrote a prayer asking God to assist the speaker in life and in death. Today it is most often sung to the tune “Eventide” by the English organist William Henry Monk🕯️ The many English stops such as the English Horn, Small Tuba and some orchestral stops on this magnificent organ in Marienstatt take you to England in terms of sound (many stops on this organ come from there) I really hope that you like my registrations☺️ The large organ by the Austrian organ building company "Rieger" was inaugurated in the abbey church in 1970 and is known beyond Germany for its beautiful sound(s).The organ has 73 stops, IV manuals and pedals and over 5,000 pipes and stands above the stables of the choir stalls and accompanies the daily choral prayers of the monastic community and the congregational singing.
