Oh, that I could enter Paradise among your Companions, like the dog of the Companions of the Cave! How can it be right for him to go to Paradise and for me to go to Hell? He is the dog of the Companions of the Cave; and I am the dog of your Companions.) بِاسْمِهِ سُبْحَانَهُ . وَاِنْ مِنْ شَىْءٍ اِلاَّ يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِه (“In the name of Allah. He is far from every defect. There is nothing that praises Him and "He should not glorify." Surah Al-Isra: 44.) بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Those who are with him are harsh against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves. (Surah Al-Fath: 29) You ask: "There are some narrations that say; "There are narrations that say, 'In times when innovations are prevalent, some righteous people among the believers and pious may be on par with or even more virtuous than the Companions.' Are these narrations authentic? If so, what is their true meaning?" The answer: The consensus of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah that the Companions are the most virtuous of mankind after the Prophets is a conclusive proof that the authentic part of those narrations concerns particular virtues. Because in particular virtues and specific perfections, the less preferred can surpass the more preferred. Otherwise, the Companions, who are praised with divine descriptions at the end of Surah al-Fath and who are praised and commended in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran, cannot be surpassed in terms of overall virtue. Of the many reasons and wisdoms behind this truth, we will now explain three reasons encompassing three main ones. FIRST WISDOM: The companionship of the Prophet is such an elixir that in a single minute... A person who is blessed with it becomes worthy of the light of truth in return for years of spiritual journey. Because there is immersion and reflection in companionship. It is known that through reflection and obedience, one can reach the highest rank along with that great light of prophethood. Just as a servant of a sultan, through his obedience, can reach a position that even a king cannot. It is for this reason that the greatest saints cannot reach the level of the Companions. Even saints like Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti, who were blessed with the companionship of the Prophet many times while awake, even if they met the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in a waking state and were honored to be in his company in this world, still cannot reach the level of the Companions. Because the companionship of the Companions is the light of prophethood. They converse with him through the light of Ahmad (peace be upon him), that is, as a prophet. As for the saints, their seeing the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) after his death is a conversation through the light of Ahmadiyya sainthood (peace and blessings be upon him). Therefore, the manifestation and appearance of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in their eyes is in terms of Ahmadiyya sainthood (peace and blessings be upon him), not prophethood. Since that is the case, the degree of prophethood must be so much higher than the degree of sainthood that the difference between these two types of conversation must be proportional.
