Pourquoi éduquer la jeunesse aux STEM ? | Sandrine Ngalula Mubenga | TEDxMontrouge

In 1997, while hovering between life and death, Sandrine Mubenga decided to dedicate her life to science, striving to find solutions to the immense electricity problems plaguing Africa. From this harrowing experience, she drew a profound conviction: young people must be educated in engineering sciences to equip them with the tools they need to address the major challenges of our time. Ngalula Sandrine Mubenga was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). A Professor of Electrical Engineering Technology at the University of Toledo in the USA, and holding a PhD in electrical engineering, Dr. Mubenga is passionate about finding sustainable and clean energy solutions to improve people's lives while combating climate change. Her research focuses on renewable energy, lithium-ion battery management systems, and energy storage systems. Drawing on this harrowing experience, she pursued a degree in electrical engineering at the University of Toledo in the United States, culminating in her doctorate. Her genius truly blossomed in 2009 when she created a low-emission hybrid car powered by hydrogen. She is the founder and CEO of SMIN Power Group, a private company specializing in renewable energy solutions. Since 2018, Dr. Mubenga has been the founder and President of STEM DRC Initiative, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote education, entrepreneurship, and research in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the USA. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
