We Didn't Expect This in Cambodia (Phnom Penh Bike Tour)

We discover a side of Phnom Penh we never expected as we escape the city for an unforgettable bike tour through the rural Mekong islands. Most visitors only see Phnom Penh’s busy streets, markets, and nightlife—but just a short ride away lies a completely different world of quiet villages, farmland, local factories, and authentic Cambodian life. Even heavy rain couldn’t stop this from becoming one of our favorite experiences in Cambodia. 🇰🇭 After arriving in Phnom Penh from Siem Reap, we spend some time exploring the city, including a visit to the lively Phnom Penh Night Market. But the real highlight of this vlog is our island-hopping bike tour across the Mekong River. Crossing by ferry to the rural islands near Phnom Penh, we cycle through peaceful countryside roads far away from the traffic and chaos of the city. Along the way, we get caught in a massive downpour, making the whole experience even more memorable (and slightly chaotic!). We also visit a traditional tofu skin factory, where we learn about a fascinating local food-making process, and stop at a traditional silk weaving workshop, where skilled artisans create beautiful scarves and textiles by hand. These local experiences gave us such an authentic look into daily Cambodian life. This vlog also includes a short recap of our incredible day trip to Kulen Mountain, where we visited the sacred River of 1,000 Shiva Lingas, the stunning Kulen Waterfall, and the famous reclining Buddha temple. As this episode wraps up, so does our Southeast Asia adventure—for now. 🌏 ✨ What you’ll see in this video: Arriving in Phnom Penh 🏙️ Phnom Penh Night Market 🌃 Bike tour on the Mekong islands 🚴 Island hopping by ferry ⛴️ Cycling through rural Cambodia 🌾 Getting caught in heavy rain 🌧️ Traditional tofu skin factory 🥢 Silk weaving workshop 🧣 Kulen Mountain recap ⛰️ 1,000 Shiva Lingas river 🪨 Kulen Waterfall 💦 Reclining Buddha temple 🛕 Final Southeast Asia reflections 🤍 👍 Don’t forget to: Like 👍 | Comment 💬 | Subscribe 🔔 for more travel adventures! 📍 Travel Tips: If you’re visiting Phnom Penh, don’t just stay in the city center. A bike tour of the Mekong islands is one of the best ways to experience a quieter, more authentic side of Cambodia. It’s peaceful, cultural, and feels worlds away from the capital—even though it’s right next door.
