“What is Truth”     Jesus calls the Holy Spirit “…the Spirit of truth...” (John 15:26) During an interaction with Pilate, Jesus said He had come into this world to “…testify to the truth…” (John 18:37) Pilate’s reply, “What is truth?” (John 18:38)     I grew up in an era of relativism. What’s true for you may not be true for me. It’s the idea that there is no absolute truth. Society thought this was great because it allowed us to be the portrayers of truth. Just like in the Old Testament, “…everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 21:25) People had no problem living a lie if it made them happy. Unfortunately, that has now morphed into, “This is what I believe and if you don’t believe it, you are evil.”    So, what is truth? Jesus said, “I am…the truth…” (John 14:6) and that is why the Holy Spirit is called the “Spirit of truth” because the Spirit will remind us of all that Jesus has said. (John 14:26) and remember, the Spirit of truth will always glorify Jesus. (John 16:14) If what is being put forth as truth doesn’t glorify Jesus, it is a lie.  Instead, stand on the Word of God, “…Your word is truth.” (John 17:17) Words from the Father through Jesus taught by the Holy Spirit to the glory of Jesus. Now that is truth, let us walk in it.    Lewisville Bible Church is centered in Christ, founded on the Word of God, the Bible, strengthened through prayer, intentional in sharing the good news of life in Christ, caring about people and the needs of our community; and committed to the spread of the gospel around the world.
