Review: The Incredible Emanuel Feuermann RCA Recordings
This seven-disc set contains some of the finest and most artistically satisfying cello playing you will ever hear--never mind the fact that Feuermann's partners were Jascha Heifetz, William Primrose, and Arthur Rubinstein in the chamber works--with The Philadelphia Orchestra under Ormandy and Stokowski in the orchestral pieces. Even the sonics, from 1938-41, pose no barrier to enjoyment when the interpretations are this compelling.
