Webinar #34 “Knowing and Growing Siberian Irises” by Bob Hollingworth “Knowing and Growing Siberian Irises” by Bob Hollingworth In an earlier AIS webinar, Patrick Spence gave Judge's Training on Siberians. In "Knowing and Growing Siberians" I'd like to expand this to talk about the garden value of Siberians, what it takes to grow them, and recent hybridizing activities by ourselves and others to create the current cultivars -- and maybe take a glimpse into the future. About the Presenter Bob Hollingworth has been growing and hybridizing Siberian irises for more than 40 years, with nearly 90 introductions to his name. Of those, 11 have won the Morgan-Wood Medal and one, ‘Swans In Flight’ went on to win the American Dykes Medal. Bob also won the Randolph-Perry Medal with ‘Who’s On First’ for Species Hybrids. Bob has been awarded the AIS Hybridizer’s Medal, the AIS Distinguished Service Medal, and the Sir Michael Foster Memorial Plaque from the BIS. Bob is a past president of the Society for Siberian Irises (SSI) and of the AIS Foundation. He is an Emeritus Iris Judge and chairman of the AIS Scientific Advisory Committee. He is also editor of The Siberian Iris, the publication of SSI. Bob is a Professor Emeritus at Michigan State University. This webinar will be 1 Hr Judge’s Training Credit.
