An incident involving the Military Police and residents of the Pedreira neighborhood, in the southern zone of São Paulo, has generated outrage among residents. During an informal conversation at his front door, a man called a neighbor by the nickname "Coxinha," a reference to his local snack business. However, police officers who were passing by at the time interpreted the call as a provocation and carried out a violent approach. Antônio Carlos was assaulted by the officers even after explaining that he was referring to his neighbor Domingos Souza. He also claimed to have been punched and pushed against the wall before being taken to the police station. Subsequent examinations confirmed injuries to his ribs. The situation worsened when family members tried to intervene during the police action. Antônio's wife and daughter also reported having suffered physical assaults.
