Vintage Butterick 535 Sewing Project | 1950 Slip - Make Do & Mend from Linen Sheet

By popular demand, I've made the vintage slip pattern! There were of course a couple of issues along the way - partly because it was a vintage pattern so the instructions were from the 1950s and assumed 1950s knowledge, partly because I needed to do some fitting adjustments (as always), and partly because ... well I made some stuff up as usual! But I am very pleased with the result! I think it will be great in my wardrobe (lingerie draw) and I have also created a really well fitting pattern that I intend to use with the narrow role of vintage silk that I bought from the Japanese Kimono shop. The pattern is a princess seam construction, cut on the straight of grain and with a side placket. It is closed with snaps/press studs and a hook & eye. I added a bit of lace trim that I had in my stash from a charity shop and I also added the ruffle on the bottom as well. Working with the silk will add another layer of challenge but I am intending to hand stitch that as a 'slow sewing' mindful project - wish me luck!
