A Rich History of St Oswald's Church - A Rambles through History Special.
Welcome to our Rambles through History special episode featuring the ancient church of St Oswald in Winwick, Cheshire. Episode 20 entitled 'A Rich History of St Oswald's Church' takes us on a journey back in time to see this stunning place of worship. On my visit we take a look at the evidence and artefacts that still remain at St Oswald's from as early as Anglo-Saxon times as well as taking a look at the Gerard chapel and the Legh chapel dating back to 1330 AD where beautiful monuments and memorials can be seen. I also highlight how the church suffered during the English Civil War and how the battle of Red Bank raged to the north of the church as well as around the church itself. The film is also complemented with a visual tour of the interior of the church and many of it's wonderful treasures from centuries past. #jamesbalme #tvpresenter4history #cheshirelife
