Montessori is a child-centred educational approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 1900s, focusing on self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative mixed age play. It emphasises on fostering independence, respecting natural psychological development and allowing children to grow at their own pace. It recognises that children are not an empty vessel waiting to be filled. They are born with a natural drive to grow, learn, and become independent.
