2026 Jones Beach Airshow - Canadian Snowbirds

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds make their final appearance in the CT-114 Tutor over Jones Beach with this high show performance that featured only eight jets instead of their usual nine and following their joint flyby with the Red Arrows. Earlier in 2026 the Canadian government, in conjunction with the Canadian Forces and the Royal Canadian Air Force, made the decision that 2026 would be the final year of the Snowbirds' operation of the CT-114 Tutor. The Tutor had been in service from approximately 1963-2000 with the RCAF (first flown in 1960) and after 2000 with limited service with AETE and finally, the Snowbirds. Canada has kicked the proverbial Snowbirds replacement can down the road so many times without clearly defining any kind of replacement aircraft for the team. That can has now hit a wall, and cannot be kicked any further down. It is an absolute embarrassment for the Canadian government to put a stop to the Snowbirds (an "operational pause" if you will) for a few years while the replacement aircraft, the CT-157 Siskin II, gets delivered and becomes operational. Every major national demonstration team has made smooth transitions from one aircraft to another in their histories, why not the Snowbirds? Sunday's performance was paused about 9:00 through as Snowbird #2 had a bird strike and the team took the time to investigate and come up with a solution as to how to complete their display with the remaining seven aircraft. Much of that discussion can be heard through the video from about 9:00 until the resumption of the demo at approximately 15:18 into the video. The 2026 Jones Beach Airshow is one of the signature events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, with airshow dates taking place from July 5-6, 2026 (yes, that's Sunday and Monday!), with practice taking place on Friday July 3, 2026. There were no airshow-related events over Jones Beach State Park on July 4; however Jones Beach did host their annual fireworks display that night. Aviation-related activities did take place in New York City on July 4, which is featured separately. The video showcased here was shot on Sunday July 5, 2026 at the Jones Beach State Park and also shot while standing in the water, which will explain why you hear the waves crashing and much of the crowd/beachgoers. Each ICAS member air show is eligible for a single package of the three music licenses for one air show at the cost of $770 for a one (1) day air show; $1,100 for a two (2) day air show; $1,375 for a three (3) day air show; $1,650 for a four (4) day air show; $1,925 for a five (5) day air show, $2,200 for a six (6) day air show; $2,475 for a seven (7) day air show, and $2,750 for an eight (8) day air show. The rate applies only to music broadcast over the public address system during the public air show portion of the program (not practice/rehearsal/closed to the public days) and does not provide the air show with the right to use pre-recorded music at concerts or other non-air show special events held in conjunction with the air show.
