Giant 16-Foot Wooden Trolls Hiding in Rhode Island - We Had to See for Ourselves (@TheNatureBreak)
PART I Filmed on a cold, windy, and rainy spring day, this walk seemed perfectly suited to the experience of discovering internationally known artist Thomas Dambo mythical-looking wooden sculptures hidden among the trees. The search for two of Dambo’s five Rhode Island trolls proved not only to meet expectations but to surpass them. Hidden among the trees are Erik Rock and Greta Granite, towering wooden trolls that stand approximately 15–16 feet tall. Built almost entirely from reclaimed and recycled wood from the area, the sculptures are designed to blend into their natural surroundings. Thomas Dambo is a Danish artist known worldwide for creating giant troll sculptures from recycled materials. His work can be found across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Each troll is given its own personality, story, and connection to the landscape where it lives. Dambo’s goal is to inspire people to explore nature, reuse materials creatively, discover hidden places, and connect with the outdoors through art. The trolls are constructed from discarded lumber, pallets, and other reclaimed wood that would otherwise have ended up in landfills. Despite their enormous size, they often feel surprisingly at home in the forests where they are placed. With unusually friendly and peaceful expressions, the trolls seem to welcome visitors into their world. This video is Part I of a series exploring Rhode Island’s remarkable troll sculptures. #ThomasDambo #RhodeIslandTrolls #ErikRock #GretaGranite #GiantTrolls #OutdoorArt #NatureWalk #HiddenGems #RhodeIsland #forestadventure Nature can heal. Nature is a cure to our daily stress, sadness, depression, and an elixir to a world that is moving too fast. The natural world helps to relax, revitalize, rejuvenate, and uplift us. A simple walk in the woods, a trip to the ocean or even a car ride down a tree-lined country road can relieve anxiety and allow us to decompress from our hectic lives. But when we cannot take the opportunity to visit Mother Nature in person, we can take a quick break and enjoy the essence of the experience through peaceful, tranquil snippets of the natural world. Heal yourself, calm yourself, unwind, and take a mental repose with these short videos to give yourself a positive gift in your day.
