Troll Hunt Continues… & They’re Even Bigger! (@TheNatureBreak )

PART II Filmed on a cold, windy, and rainy spring day, this walk seemed perfectly suited to the experience of discovering internationally known artist Thomas Dambo mythical-looking wooden sculptures hidden among the trees. The search for two more of Dambo’s five Rhode Island trolls proved once again to not only to meet expectations but to surpass them. The first of the two found was Young Boulder, located in the Arcadia Management Area near Browning Mill Pond in Exeter. Surrounded by beautiful woods and trails, Young Boulder overlooks the scenic Pond - he seems to be almost watching guard. Iver Mudslider is hidden in Ryan Park in North Kingstown. There is a small hike to get to the location, and the fork in the path (with a Dambo “tree”) indicates the troll entrance. Known for his muddy toes and “playful” (although kind of scary) expression, Iver Mudslider is perched on a mud mound clinging to a tree. As with the others, these trolls stand approximately 15–16 feet tall and are built almost entirely from reclaimed and recycled wood from the area, and are designed to blend into their natural surroundings. Thomas Dambo is a Danish artist known worldwide for creating giant troll sculptures from recycled materials. His work can be found across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Each troll is given its own personality, story, and connection to the landscape where it lives. Dambo’s goal is to inspire people to explore nature, reuse materials creatively, discover hidden places, and connect with the outdoors through art. Despite their enormous size, they often feel surprisingly at home in the forests where they are placed. With unusually friendly and peaceful expressions, the trolls seem to welcome visitors into their world. This video is Part II of a series exploring Rhode Island’s remarkable troll sculptures. #ThomasDambo #RhodeIslandTrolls #ErikRock #GretaGranite #GiantTrolls #OutdoorArt #NatureWalk #HiddenGems #RhodeIsland #forestadventure Nature can heal.
