This was stated after Chief Judge Christina Endarwati explained that the charges read out carried a sentence of less than five years. Based on this, the panel of judges stated that there was an opportunity to resolve the case through a settlement mechanism. In addition to rejecting the settlement offer, Doctor Tifa's legal team also objected to the indictment read out by the public prosecutor. The prosecutor asked the East Jakarta District Court to try and rule on the criminal case of Roy Suryo and his associates. This trial, however, is for the defendant Doctor Tifa alone. With the refusal to reach a settlement, the trial in the Jokowi diploma slander case will continue according to the usual procedures this coming Thursday.
