JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - Ahead of the judge's ruling on his pretrial motion regarding his arrest and search, Roy Suryo has filed a second pretrial motion at the South Jakarta District Court. The motion was filed to challenge his designation as a suspect in the alleged slander case against the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, on November 7, 2025. Roy questioned the investigators and prosecutors' use of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) in handling the case. However, Jokowi's supporters believe Roy's second pretrial motion is merely a strategy to extend the trial period for the diploma case between Doctor Tifa and Roy Suryo. This is because the East Jakarta District Court can only try Roy after the South Jakarta District Court has issued a ruling on the second pretrial motion. Last Friday, Roy Suryo's pretrial motion regarding his arrest entered the conclusion stage. Roy's camp believes that the actions taken by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police at Roy Suryo's residence on June 19 were formally flawed. Meanwhile, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya), as the defendant, maintains that the arrest and search of Roy Suryo were carried out in accordance with regulations and were legally valid. The first hearing of Roy Suryo's second pretrial motion is scheduled for Friday, July 10th. Several parties are listed as defendants and co-defendants, including the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief, the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the South Jakarta District Attorney's Office, and the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office.
