By establishing a comparison between two objects, we better understand the functioning and contours of what is being investigated. The comparative research method is very common in the social sciences and applied social sciences, and in the case of law, when we speak of Comparative Law, we are actually talking about the method. In the case of a law thesis, the comparative research method, to be applied, requires the researcher to have knowledge of the institutions of the two legal systems studied. Thus, to establish the comparison, it is necessary to understand both objects being compared very well; otherwise, the use of the comparative method will not be scientific. The comparative method requires an understanding of the entire complexity of the phenomena studied, not just the part that will be the subject of the monograph or scientific research. Therefore, if you do not master one of the objects and this demands a lot of research, depending on the time available for your academic work, it is not advisable to select this scientific method. Again, it's important to remember that the comparative research method can be used in conjunction with other methods, since it is a procedural method and is generally combined with other types of methods.
