If the researcher is an undergraduate student or is pursuing a specialization, it is recommended that only one case be chosen, since a thorough analysis requires extensive research and mastery of the art of scientific research. Thus, if a young researcher chooses more than one case to analyze through a case study, they may lose focus on the topic or conduct superficial research lacking scientific rigor. Therefore, employing the monographic method to study more than one case should be done by more experienced researchers, such as those in doctoral programs. Furthermore, it is important to emphasize that case studies aim to point out why a particular case is key to understanding a particular problem, or why that case became paradigmatic, or why that case is an exception to the rule.
