Dr Allen Katz EME Done Simple: Digital Modes, 50 Watts, Yagi - R.I.P. 06/20/24
#EME #K1JT #ARRLnNJ #wspro #/sk *Sadly we inform you, Dr. Allen Katz K2UYH/sk passed June 20th, 2024.* Dr. Allen Katz K2UYH "Getting started with EME using a simple antenna and 50 watts!" - K2UYH simple way using K1JT's Software! Al K2UYH has been a radio amateur since he was a teenager - with an interest in the UHF/microwave frequencies and Moonbounce. He completed the first WAC (Worked all Continents) above 144 MHz in 1976, on 432 the second WAS (Worked all States), and on 432 and 1296 the third DXCC (DX Century Club - working 100 or more countries). He has also completed WAC on 23 thru 3 cm. UHF. Most hams think it takes a big antenna and high power to work EME. This presentation will change that impression by showing examples of how little it takes to make a QSO off the Moon. A single Yagi and 50 watts will get you started. It will start with a little history and then cover all important aspects of EME needed for success.
