Wet Heavy Spring Powder

Its March 16th, and it's a wet and heavy spring time powder day! This day was a race against the clock, in the sense that as the day went on, the freezing levels went way up, and the snow became wetter and stickier every lap I did. The first lap of the day under the Peak to Peak line was probably the best, because the snow hadn't yet gotten extremely heavy. Even though it was on the denser side, it made for some great tight turning. I almost held the whole line together, but hilariously bailed as I got to the cat track at the bottom. Sometimes you can't win em all. Generally, if I'm riding Blackcomb on a day like this, I always lap Patroller Trees until the alpine opens. Unfortunately, on this particular day- the winds were too high at the top of the mountain, thus, they weren't able to open Seventh Heaven (which would normally be my go- to). So instead, I spend the day puttering around in the dense trees, practising my tight turns off of the Seventh Heaven Expressway. This kind of snow is always fun to ride, because even though its slower- it also allows you plenty of reaction time, and therefore more time to make last minute decisions when deeking through tight spaces. I'm riding my trusty Lib Tech Orca- my all time favourite board for the trees! Nothing beats it's hybrid rocker camber profile combined with tight turning radius allowing it to turn on a dime! In combination with the Skate Tech on my Yes Drive bindings, this set up allows for a precise (yet surfy) style. Thanks for watching! Don't forget to like and subscribe!
