Ask Leroy! Episode 15: Leroy Goes to School
Last summer, Captain Leroy Weed welcomed thousands of visitors into our Discovery Wharf here at MCCF in Stonington that includes a marine touch tank, an interactive touch wall, virtual reality experiences, and much more - giving visitors the chance to learn about the local fisheries in a hands-on way. One of Leroy's favorite parts about last summer was utilizing the touch-tank to teach kids about some of the local critters and species from the Gulf of Maine. With our Discovery Wharf still closed to the public due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we decided to hit the road to visit a local school and teach a class about some of the local animals they can find here on the coast of Maine. A special thanks to Surry Elementary School, Kirstin Weed, and her Kindergarten class for hosting us!
