DRIVING TEST: PARKING IN ELLE Parking maneuvers are definitely the ones that worry you the most during the driving test. Surely more than prolonged reversing, precision braking and inversion, the ones that worry you the most are parking maneuvers. In this video I will explain to you how to do, in the simplest and most precise way possible, the "L" parking in reverse. I will give you some references, which can vary slightly depending on the length of the car you are driving, and the width of the parking spaces, since they are not all exactly the same size: some are a little wider and some are a little narrower. But you will see that the references that I will give you will definitely help you to correctly perform the "L" parking maneuver. First of all I will explain to you how it should be done step by step with the relative references, and at the end of the video we will instead see the complete maneuver and also the speed, or rather the slowness, with which it should be performed. Let's move to the parking lot. Remember that the first thing to do before stopping and preparing the maneuver will be to activate the direction indicator, to warn other vehicles of your intention to pull over. Do this even if you are in a parking lot because doing so is always mandatory: therefore put on the indicator and keep it on during practically the entire maneuver. It will be essential to position yourself with the vehicle straight at about one meter away from the parking line. This is very important to start the maneuver correctly, keep it in mind: car straight at about one meter from the parking line. Then stop when you have aligned the rear-view mirrors with this line, that of the second space after the one you want to park in. The more precisely you stop here, the more the car will be centered in the parking lot. Remember however that based on the length of the vehicle or the width of the spaces, as already mentioned, it is possible that it is necessary to stop slightly further forward or further back than this reference. An alternative is to align the end part of our car with the side of the car, if present, parked in the space next to ours. However, I noticed that the kids have more difficulty aligning themselves with this reference, rather than that of the line, and if the blue car were to be parked badly, as is often seen, we would find ourselves taking a wrong reference. But it could become very useful in the event that, on the ground, there were no parking lines. Once you have found the correct position, with the vehicle stopped, turn the wheels all the way to the right and put it into reverse. Before setting off, remember to check that there are no vehicles coming from in front or behind. If there are any, let them pass before starting off in reverse. After that, start to lift the clutch a little and go backwards, at a very moderate speed, checking the entire area behind and to the side of the vehicle, making constant use of the mirrors and also turning to check with a direct look behind the car, through the rear window. But don't forget to check often in front of you, because when the car is straight and already partially inserted in the parking space, you will have to stop, to avoid the risk of parking the car crooked. Once stopped with the vehicle straight, straighten the wheels by giving a turn and a half of the steering wheel to the left. Once this is done, you can start again and complete the parking. Insert the car completely into the space, without leaving the nose out. To understand how much to back up, you can also use the parking sensors that practically all the most modern vehicles are now equipped with.
