Goodbye Family, Hello Mountains — My New Vanlife

After six months living in my self-converted Mercedes Sprinter campervan Monday to Friday while working as a supply teacher, the contract is over. In this video, I hug my daughter goodbye, wave to my family, and drive 250 miles north toward the Scottish Highlands — starting eight weeks of full-time vanlife under Ben Nevis. My first stop is the Vanlife Community & Retreat at the West Highland Way Campsite, just north of Glasgow. It's a place built specifically for full-time vanlifers — and you can stay here completely free. 🌲 THE VANLIFE COMMUNITY & RETREAT Located on the West Highland Way Campsite near Blanefield, this spot was created by a full-time vanlifer who wanted to give back. It offers free overnight parking, showers, toilets, device charging, WiFi, and unlimited tea and coffee — all funded by paying guests on the main site. Honestly, I had no idea places like this existed in the UK. 🚐 IN THIS VIDEO • Hugging my daughter goodbye at Glendale Holiday Park • The 2-hour drive from Carlisle into the Scottish Highlands • Arriving at the Vanlife Community & Retreat — first impressions • Full site tour: facilities, clubhouse, pitches • Evening routine: cooking, golden hour, and quiet reflection • What's coming next: the Glen Nevis series 📍 THE NEXT CHAPTER On Saturday, I arrive at Glen Nevis Caravan and Camping Park near Fort William — right underneath Ben Nevis. I'll be working behind the bar for 8 weeks and living in my campervan full-time on the campsite. This is the start of a new series exploring the West Highlands, and honestly, I cannot wait. 🔗 USEFUL LINKS Vanlife Community & Retreat: https://www.westhighlandwaycampsite.com/ Glen Nevis Caravan & Camping Park: https://www.glen-nevis.co.uk/ #vanlifeuk #fulltimevanlife #vanlife #campervanscotland #scotlandroadtrip #glennevis #vanlifescotland #mercedessprinterconversion #leavinghome
