TRIP REPORT | The Decadence of Austrian Airlines | Chicago to Vienna | AUSTRIAN Boeing 777

Austrian Trip Report flying from Chicago to Vienna onboard one of the Austrian Boeing 777 on a beautiful afternoon, night, and morning over the North-Atlantic Ocean. A comfortable flight from Chicago to Vienna onboard the Austrian Boeing 777-200. The cabin of this B777 was comfortable, the legroom was good and the seats were comfortable. Sadly, that's where the good service ends. This was my first time flying long-haul with Austrian Airlines and, from what some friends told me and what I have seen in other Trip Reports, the service has deteriorated to unexplored limits. The dinner service was one of the worst I've ever had on a plane. It's not that it tasted bad... but come on... just 1 meal option (pasta) with almost no sauce! What is the next one? Not even a warm meal? The Lufthansa Group needs to change urgently the really bad onboard catering they offer in all their airlines in economy class. The AirFrance-KLM group is ahead of them in every single aspect. Much better. No doubts. As for the flight itself, we took off from Chicago in a south-westerly direction and quickly turned right, more than 180°, to start our route to Vienna, initially flying over Lake Michigan. After a beautiful sunset over the United States, we entered the Atlantic, crossing it from west to east for around 6 hours. We entered Europe over the Netherlands. We flew over Germany, the Czech Republic, and finally into Austria. The predominant note throughout central Europe was an intense radiation fog (in the video I give you a glimpse of it). Entire cities were covered by thin layers of fog that reduced visibility to a minimum. Fortunately, Vienna airport was already in one of the small clearings that the sun had already created by warming the ground. We landed in Vienna on runway 16 after one of the most atypical and beautiful approaches this year. Now it's your turn! Have you ever flown with Austrian Airlines? Which route? On which plane?
