This time, I visited peach farms and direct sales outlets in the Kinokawa City area and Katsuragi Town, Ito District, where there's little information available online. When I visited in late July, the early-ripening Hikawa Hakuho and the signature Hakuho varieties had finished, and the popular Shimizu Hakuto peaches were just beginning to appear. I was also able to get my hands on the "Tsukiakari" peach, known as the "phantom peach." My first taste of the "Natsukko" and the "Kishu Hakuto" were both absolutely delicious. Wakayama's peach season lasts until mid-August. If you haven't yet sampled this year's best peaches, why not take a drive and visit some? *Some direct sales outlets have unknown opening hours.
