PATH WTC-33rd Street Line PA-5 Train Ride: Downtown to Midtown Manhattan via Jersey City, NJ

Taken on 2/6/25. Video of a PATH PA-5 Train set operating in service on the special World Trade Center to 33rd Street (WTC-33 ST) line. Service operates on weekdays only, from approximately 5:45 AM to 11:30 PM. This route is the only PATH line service to not have any New Jersey terminals, with both of its terminals solely in NYC. Most of the stops on the route are also in NYC, with only the Exchange Place and Newport stations in New Jersey. While this route can be used theoretically as an alternative to the NYC Subway, the $3.00 fare (vs. the $2.90 subway fare) and slower route will deter most people from using said train. This special service is a combination of the WTC-Hoboken & Hoboken-33 Street services, which are both currently suspended while Hoboken Station is closed. There are major track and station improvements being done in and around the station which requires its temporary closure. The station was closed starting 11:59 PM on January 31st, and regular service is expected to begin at 5 AM on February 25th. As a result, the WTC-33 ST service will cease operation at the end of the day on February 24th. This is not the first time that such a route has operated in service. In April 1980, PATH ran this same route due to a New York City Transit Authority strike which halted most bus service & all subway service across NYC. A rundown of the trip will be provided soon.
