Chenrezig - Mantra by Chogyal Rinpoche

Avalokiteshvara (tib. Chenrezig, eng. Loving Eyes) is seen as the concentrated love and compassion of all Buddhas for all beings. In Tibetan Buddhism, Avalokiteshvara is the most significant and important Bodhisattva. Avalokiteshvara's great compassion is not limited to the human world, but spreads to all levels where there is life and consciousness. The energy of Avalokiteshvara expresses an unconditional willingness to help all beings in need. Avalokiteshvara can appear in a variety of different forms, and often a different mantra will express the specific quality of that particular form. An example is the 1000-armed and eleven-headed Avalokiteshvara, whose mantra can be found here. In Tibetan Buddhism, the four-armed Avalokiteshvara is considered the main form. His four arms symbolize the so-called 4 Immeasurables: Compassion, Love, Joy and Equanimity. Chanting his mantra creates space in our mind, transforms self-condemnation and sadness into a positive state of mind, and can bring all of our inherent beautiful qualities to full fruition. The mantra is: ཨོཾ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྂ OM MANI PEME HUNG The Bodhisattvas very often appear in a group of three: Avalokitehsvara, whose mantra you can hear here, Manjushri (Jampal Yang) and Vajrapani (Channa Dorje), who embody the compassion, wisdom and power of all the Buddhas of the past, present and future.
