Gabinete RP #39: Cria e agarra as oportunidades!

When I look at the P&A Group's journey, the first thing that comes to mind is that none of the opportunities we built were foreseen in the way they happened. There was a set of conditions that we created over time, often without knowing exactly what for, and which then served as fertile ground for what appeared, sometimes in forms I wouldn't have recognized if there hadn't been that prior work preparing the reception. What I learned is that there's a very concrete difference between waiting for an opportunity and creating the conditions for it to happen. The second doesn't guarantee the first, nothing guarantees it, but it significantly changes the probability of being in the right place when something arises. And above all, it alters our ability to recognize it when it happens, because those who haven't prepared the ground rarely manage to identify an opportunity before it has already passed. But the part that is least talked about, and which seems to me the most critical of all, is what happens after we seize the opportunity. An opportunity with delivered value doesn't close one cycle: it opens several. And the reverse is also true, and I learned this in ways that cost me more at the time than I imagined they could. In this episode, I talk about specific moments in the P&A Group where this became evident, when the conditions we had built created space for something we didn't expect, and what we did (or didn't do) with it. Have you ever missed an opportunity not because you didn't see it, but because you weren't prepared to receive it?
