Nephi Will Go

"I Will Go and Do" is part of an original song series I wrote retelling stories from the Book of Mormon, in a style meant to echo the sound of the ancient world the scriptures came from. This one follows Lehi's family leaving Jerusalem and setting out into the wilderness (1 Nephi 2 through 18): leaving their gold behind, carrying the brass plates, following the Liahona through the wilderness, Nephi's broken bow, the long years of travel, and finally building the ship to cross the sea to the promised land. It's a song about faith that acts, going and doing whatever the Lord commands, even when the road runs cold and you can't see the end of it. Leave the gold behind, take the word in hand.
