All the Day Long
Out in the forest, hunting for beasts, the words his father had taught him about eternal life sank deep into his heart, and a hunger came over him that wasn't for meat. It was down in his soul. So he knelt among the trees where no one could see and he poured himself out to God, crying in mighty prayer all the day long, and when night came he was still going. Then a voice reached him: your sins are forgiven, and you shall be blessed. The guilt swept away. And the moment it lifted, he stopped praying for himself and began to pray for others, first his own people, and then even for his enemies, the ones who hated him, that the record would be kept safe and one day reach their children. He wrestled through a whole day and into the night, and God heard him. I cried to the Lord and I held on strong. The sun went down but my prayer went on, all the day long. Lyrics: Out in the woods with my bow and my bread, My father's words come alive in my head. The hunger it hit me but it wasn't for meat, It was down in my soul, right under my feet. So I knelt in the leaves where no man could see, And I poured out the wrong that was heavy on me. All the day long, all the day long, I cried to the Lord and I held on strong. The sun went down but my prayer went on, All the day long, all the day long. Then a voice came soft and it settled the storm, Said your sins are forgiven, your guilt is gone. And the guilt swept out like it never was there, So I lifted my eyes and I started to care, Not for me anymore but the folks that I love, So I prayed for my people and the promised above. All the day long, all the day long, I cried to the Lord and I held on strong. The sun went down but my prayer went on, All the day long, all the day long. And I couldn't stop there, no I couldn't rest, For the ones who hate us, the ones we've cursed. I asked for their children, I asked for their land, That the words be kept safe by the Maker's hand. For a day far off I would never see, When the truth finds the ones who were lost to me. All the day long, all the day long, I wrestled with God and I carried on. And He heard my voice and He kept me strong, All the day long, all the day long. So I go to my rest with a quiet heart, Knowin' the promise won't fall apart. There's a place prepared where I belong, 'Cause I cried to the Lord all the day long. Enos 1. #BookOfMormon #LDS #Enos #Prayer #ComeFollowMe #Scripture
