Observed and expected analysis and use of background rates

In this session, chaired by Agnes Kant from LAREB, Maria Gordillo Maranon from the European Medicines Agency presents on the use of background rates in spontaneous reporting, followed by VAC4EU President Miriam Sturkenboom discussing comparative database studies in pre- and post vaccination. The recording also includes a panel discussion on how to use background rates in signal detection and how to improve this methodology, with Vincent Bauchau (VAC4EU Co-Founder), Xavier Kurz (EMA), and Florence van Hunsel (LAREB). On the 10th of October, 2023, members of the Covid Vaccine Monitor (CVM) consortium met in Utrecht, the Netherlands, for the closing event of the project. The purpose of the meeting was to reflect on the different methodologies and frameworks used throughout the project, and ultimately discuss the future of vaccine safety methodology. The event was aptly titled ‘Lessons Learned about the Methods of Monitoring Covid Vaccine Safety.’ This video is part of a series to disseminate the valuable and insightful content from this meeting. 👉 Maria Gordillo Maranon's slides: https://vac4eu.org/cvm-slides_12_spontaneo... 👉 Miriam Sturkenboom's slides: https://vac4eu.org/cvm-slides_13_comparati... 👉 Learn more about the CVM project: https://vac4eu.org/CVM-project 👉 Follow us on LinkedIn: https://nl.linkedin.com/company/vac4eu 👉 Check out our Zenodo community: https://zenodo.org/communities/vac4eu/
