The revitalization of Surabaya's South Keputran Market is not only focused on improving the building and sanitation, but also on reorganizing the trading area to make it more orderly and comfortable for both visitors and vendors. Agus Priyo, President Director of PT Pasar Surya (Perseroda), explained that the revitalization project will add approximately 60 new stalls to the market's second floor. "There will be an estimated 60 new stalls on the second floor," said Agus Priyo, while accompanying Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi to inspect the South Keputran Market revitalization project on Tuesday morning (May 12, 2026). With these additions, Agus Priyo stated that the total number of stalls at South Keputran Market will reach 384. This number consists of 324 existing stalls on the first floor and an additional 60 new stalls on the second floor. "324 plus 60, making 384. Because the existing 324 are on the first floor, we'll add 60 (on the second floor)," he said. Agus stated that the additional 60 stalls are intended for new vendors who will occupy the market revitalization area. "So, for new vendors," he added. In addition to the additional stalls, the revitalization also involves rezoning vendors to make the market area more orderly. Wet and dry vendors will be separated, making trading activities more comfortable and clean. "Wet and dry vendors will be separated. So, the dry will be dry, and the wet will be wet. So, it will be more organized, more comfortable for both visitors and vendors," he explained. However, Agus stated that the majority of commodities sold at South Keputran Market are still dominated by staple foods, as before. However, the arrangement will be tidier. "If you look at the map, it's the same as before. However, I apologize, the chicken vendors were less organized before," he said. Regarding expediting the completion of the revitalization project, Agus ensured that his team would coordinate with the implementing contractor to ensure the work can be completed more quickly, in accordance with Mayor Eri Cahyadi's directive. "Later, we will also coordinate with the winning contractor who is working on the project to complete it," he said. To support project acceleration, PT Pasar Surya will also evaluate the number of personnel and workers on site so that construction progress can be monitored according to the work schedule. "We will pay attention to the workforce. It must be included in the timeline and schedule so we can monitor it together.
