This Waterfall in Laos Is Too Blue to Be Real

I've seen a lot of waterfalls. Nothing prepared me for Kuang Si waterfall.The water here doesn't look real. It's this deep, surreal turquoise — like someone dyed it. Kuang Si Falls waterfall sits about 29km outside of Luang Prabang, and it's easily one of the most beautiful places I've seen in all of Southeast Asia.In this video — the full experience. The walk through the forest, the tiered pools, the main waterfall, and yes — swimming in that impossibly blue water. 🗺️ GETTING THERE From Luang Prabang town centre: ~30–40 min by tuk-tuk or shared minivan Shared minivan from the morning market area is the cheapest option (~50,000 LAK) Entry fee: 20,000 LAK (~$1 USD) Best time: Early morning — before the tour groups arrive 📍 WHAT TO EXPECT INSIDE Asiatic black bear rescue centre right at the entrance — don't skip it Multiple tiered turquoise swimming pools (yes, you can swim in the lower pools) The main waterfall — no swimming, but the view is worth every step Forest trail to the top if you want a different perspective ⏱️ Plan for at least 2–3 hours 📌 This is part of my Laos travel series — I'm exploring the country from the Thai border all the way through Vientiane.
