I Saved This Transparent Cassette Player From the Trash!
🔧 Welcome to Wolfi’s Den! I bring retro consoles, PCs, and nostalgic gadgets back to life—one capacitor at a time. In this video, I restore a rare Panasonic CW03 cassette player from the year 2000. I’ve always loved its clear plastic design – a true Y2K-era gem! But time wasn’t kind to it... The white parts had severely yellowed, the motor belt was broken, and the battery compartment was corroded. The player wouldn't turn on. Here's what I did: – Full disassembly and cleaning of all parts – Whitening yellowed plastics with 12% hydrogen peroxide – Repainting the cassette door label using an acrylic marker – Removing battery acid corrosion with citric acid – Rebuilding broken chassis corners with epoxy putty – Testing all capacitors on an LCR TC1 – surprisingly, they were fine – Reinstalling the original caps and fitting new rubber belts – Final assembly and test with a vintage cassette The tape I used was a low-quality copy of a metal music track – sadly, I had to mute most of it due to copyright. But the player works again – and it looks amazing! If you enjoyed this restoration, consider subscribing for more retro tech repairs. ☕ Enjoyed this video?
