This is part 1 of 3 of a 23 min short documentary on the last rural village, or 'kampong', in Singapore - Kampong Lorong Buangkok. This documentary is a product of love, sweat, and mosquito bites, created by a group of final-year students from NTU's School of Communication & Information. Synopsis: Despite being surrounded by concrete housing all around in modern-day Singapore, Kampong Lorong Buangkok fiercely retains its traditional roots, evident in the rustic wooden huts and strong 'kampong spirit' reflected by the older residents. Three generations of a typical kampong family which has been intimately affected by modernization voice their thoughts on what has been and will be, giving a rare glimpse into kampong life in 21st century Singapore.
