February 14, 2026. I climbed Mt. Tanigawa for the first time in about two and a half months since the end of the year. It would be impossible to survive winter without walking the snow-covered 2496 Ridge. What will it look like this year? What dangers? What encounters will I have? With the increasing number of warm days, the risk of avalanches is also increasing. Please exercise extreme caution if you are planning to climb the mountain as spring approaches. The parking lot at the Tanigawadake Information Center, located between Doai Station and Tanigawadake Ropeway Station, is closed during the winter. The parking lot at Tanigawadake Yoho (formerly the Tanigawadake Ropeway) is free. The multi-story parking lot is open only once at night (approximately 40 spaces).
