August 30-September 1, 2025. I attempted a three-day, two-night traverse of Mt. Hotaka. I hiked from Karasawa Cirque to Mt. Kitahotakadake and Mt. Okuhotakadake. This time, I'll report on the core part of the hike, from Kitaho to Okuho. This course is one of the most challenging in Mt. Hotaka and is said to be for advanced climbers. Could I, with three and a half years of climbing experience, complete the traverse? Would I even be able to return safely? I was filled with anxiety.
