We wept now, having lost Ithaca… The beacons disappeared from our homeland… Nine nights we sailed in despair. Homecoming flew away! Ithaca flew away (our return was destroyed by the storm). We returned to Aeolus (after the storm ruined everything). He marveled, seeing us alone (back so soon). “The gods hate you, Odysseus. Never may you come home…” (you are cursed by the gods) Aeolus sent us away. We saw it… and we lost it (we glimpsed Ithaca then the storm took it away forever).
