Crossing the Rubicon - Rome

Source - Rome (2005 Miniseries) In 49 BC, Julius Caesar led his legion across the Rubicon River, the legal boundary separating his provincial command from Italy proper. Roman law forbade generals from bringing troops into Italy, so crossing the river constituted an open act of rebellion against the Roman Senate. By doing so, Caesar knowingly triggered a civil war against rival leaders, particularly Pompey the Great and the senatorial faction. #rome #history #juliuscaesar DISCLAIMER: All videos uploaded are the copyright material of their original owners and are to be copyright claimed automatically or at the discretion of the owner.
