From Box to Finished Cutting Board — Wizmaker Wand Laser Engraver

In this video I test the Wizmaker Wand Laser Engraver inside a real working woodshop. This isn’t a sponsored demo — I wanted to see if an affordable laser engraver could actually be useful for woodworking, custom projects, and possibly even making money. I unbox the machine, assemble it, install the software, fix a setup issue, and then engrave a cutting board from start to finish. The goal: Can a beginner-friendly laser engraver actually work in a real shop environment? The Wizmaker Wand is marketed toward beginners and small spaces, with a quick setup and easy software. I wanted to find out if that was actually true — and whether this could be used for personalized woodworking, gifts, and small business projects. What’s Covered • Unboxing and parts overview • Assembly and setup time • LaserGRBL software setup • Fixing the inverted axis problem • Focusing the laser • Centering and framing the design • Engraving a cutting board • Final results and quality I was able to go from box to a finished engraved project in roughly one session, and the machine produced a surprisingly deep engraving on hardwood. C0777 Who This Is For • Woodworkers • DIYers • Etsy sellers • Small business ideas • People curious about laser engraving • Anyone thinking about getting their first laser engraver 👍 If you enjoy real shop experiments, repairs, and tool testing — subscribe. I post woodworking, fabrication, and hands-on projects from an actual working shop.
