The world's tallest roller coaster – Kingda Ka. Built as a symbol of superlatives in the theme park world, it ended with an explosion that made headlines around the world. Kingda Ka was more than just a roller coaster. At 139 meters high and over 200 km/h, it set world records that were unimaginable for the theme park world at the time. Millions of visitors experienced the thrill at the American theme park Six Flags Great Adventure, but behind the scenes, the ride struggled with enormous technical challenges from the very beginning. From the initial plans to the race against the competition to the complex construction work – Kingda Ka was a project that pushed the boundaries of engineering. But as spectacular as it began, the technology proved to be just as fragile in operation. There were repeated failures, shutdowns, and repairs. Nevertheless, Kingda Ka became a legend throughout the theme park scene. For many theme park fans, every ride was a rare experience, almost like a ritual. The shock was all the greater when America's largest theme park chain, Six Flags, announced its permanent closure in 2024 – without a grand farewell event or final celebration. A few months later, the 139-meter-high tower was demolished once and for all. This documentary shows how things got to this point, why even world records aren't safe from the end, and what makes Kingda Ka unforgettable to this day.
