Zwischen Trauer und Trubel: Der tragische Aufbau des Olympia Looping | Die Story | Kontrovers | BR24

When Michael Barth loaded the first parts of his roller coaster onto a truck in Vienna's Prater at the end of August, he had no idea that a tragic accident would soon occur among his team. Almost four weeks before the start of Oktoberfest, the showman began moving the "Olympia Looping," one of the world's largest mobile roller coasters. 900 tons of material, thousands of parts, a 1,250-meter track – all of this had to be transported by Managing Director Barth and his team in fifty truckloads from Vienna to Munich – and reassembled there. During one of the test runs of the Olympia Looping, a fatal accident occurred on September 16, 2024. It was a test of endurance for the showman, as the roller coaster had to be in place by the start of Oktoberfest. Controversial – the story accompanied him throughout.
