Ciro Gómez Leyva questioned the public consultation on the new audience rights guidelines, arguing that these types of exercises rarely incorporate the opinions of the participants. He noted that the provisions are practically the same as those debated in 2017 during Enrique Peña Nieto's administration and criticized concepts like "truthful and timely information" for their subjectivity. He also expressed doubts about the obligation to strictly separate information and opinion, considering it unrealistic for journalistic practice. He maintained that the audience's primary right is to freely choose which media to consume and to change the channel if they don't like a program. Finally, he stated that he doesn't see these guidelines as a direct attempt at censorship, although he expressed skepticism that the consultation will actually change the authorities' decision.
