This is a testimony of atomic bomb survivors sharing their experiences at the sites of the bombing. Along with footage of the survivors themselves, we have included numerous photographs and drawings from the time of the bombing. Mr. Tagawa passed away in May 2022 (at the age of 88). The footage was filmed in November 2021. ...Tagawa Hiroyasu's Atomic Bombing Experience... I was a sixth-grader (12 years old) at Shinkozen Elementary School at the time of the bombing. After forced evacuation in April 1945, my parents lived in the factory they ran in Takenokubo-cho. I was in Narutaki-cho when the bombing occurred. I witnessed the bombing and, thinking it was a near miss, suffered some minor injuries and waited for my parents to arrive. Two days later, I learned that the hypocenter was actually in the Urakami area, so I walked through the horrific atomic bomb field and rescued my parents from an air-raid shelter near the factory. After spending two nights in the shelter with my father, who was severely injured, and my mother, who was only slightly injured, we evacuated to Togitsu. My father died on the 18th after undergoing surgery at a temporary relief station in Nameshi.
