We Had Them 26-4... Then They Batted for TWO HOURS! | Clanfield CC v Ropley CC

Ropley 2nd XI travelled to South Lane Meadow on 23rd May to take on Clanfield CC 2nd XI in Hampshire Cricket League Division 6F. It was the first truly hot day of the season, already 26°C at midday and getting warmer throughout the afternoon. After losing the toss and being asked to bowl, Ropley made the perfect start. Andrew Robson and I struck early to leave Clanfield reeling at 26-4 inside the opening eight overs, including my first double-wicket maiden. What followed was one of the most resilient partnerships you'll see in village cricket. Clanfield captain Kris Lane and returning batter Matt Roff dug in and batted together for over two hours, adding 150 runs and carrying their side to 176-4 from 40 overs. With a fast outfield and baking temperatures, Ropley knew the target was very achievable, but it still needed a professional chase. Dominic Hardie led the way with an excellent 64, supported by Lucas Moran's unbeaten 46. I added a quick-fire 28 before Quentin Sandell hit the winning runs as Ropley reached 177-3 with 11 overs to spare. A brilliant game played in great spirits on a fantastic cricket ground. 🏏 Hampshire Cricket League Division 6F 📍 South Lane Meadow, Clanfield ☀️ 26°C Heatwave Cricket 🎥 Filmed by Totally Stumped Cricket #Cricket #VillageCricket #HampshireCricket #TotallyStumpedCricket
